Snowdon Mountain Railway celebrates 130th Anniversary

2026 will see the iconic Snowdon Mountain Railway celebrate its 130th Anniversary.

To celebrate the historic landmark, the railway has added offerings to enhance the guest experience for 2026 and beyond.

At Llanberis Station, the cinema has been thoughtfully reimagined as an elegant 1900’s-style vintage theatre. This beautifully restored space offers guests the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a curated programme of special events throughout the year.

Visitors can also discover the new Rack & Pinion food outlet, which has been inspired by the charm and character of a traditional railway carriage, alongside a delightful Victorian sweet shop tucked behind the station.

Royal Liver Building 360 Unveils Immersive New Visitor Centre Exhibition

One of Liverpool’s most iconic landmarks has introduced a new interactive exhibition, adding another compelling reason to explore the city’s world-famous waterfront.

Located within the Royal Liver Building 360 Tour,  the new exhibition uses cutting-edge digital technology to bring the building’s rich history and cultural significance to life. A striking projection-mapped clock face and large-scale video wall immerse visitors in the story of this Grade I listed masterpiece, blending heritage with modern storytelling.

The exhibition features five short films, each exploring a different aspect of the building’s legacy — from the engineering of its famous clocks and the mythology of the Liver Birds to the origins of the Royal Liver Friendly Society and the building’s pioneering construction. A further film celebrates iconic moments that have taken place around the Royal Liver Building, including Eurovision 2023 and Liverpool’s River of Light festival.

A key highlight is a newly commissioned film showcasing spectacular drone footage of the views from the top of the Royal Liver Building, captured by local operator Stratus Imagery. Utilizing technology to make the views more accessible and as such enabling visitors who may be unable to complete the tower tour to still experience the panoramic vistas across Liverpool and the River Mersey.

Land’s End Announces Major Investment in New Drone Show for Summer 2026

Land’s End has today announced a significant new investment into its flagship summer events program, confirming the launch of a brand-new drone light show as part of its iconic Magic in the Skies evenings from summer 2026.

The development marks a major evolution of one of Cornwall’s most established and successful seasonal events and will be the first summer-long drone show of its kind in Cornwall, reinforcing Land’s End’s position as a leading visitor attraction and innovator within the region’s tourism sector.

The new drone show will form part of a long-term partnership with Afterglow, an emerging Cornish drone technology business, supporting local enterprise while delivering a cutting-edge new experience for visitors.

For more than two decades, Land’s End has hosted its Magic in the Skies firework nights throughout the peak summer season, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year and generating significant economic benefit for the local area. The introduction of drone technology represents a carefully considered next step — enhancing an already successful format while responding to evolving audience expectations.

The new show will blend modern drone choreography with music and storytelling inspired by Cornwall’s landscape, coast and heritage, complementing the existing fireworks display rather than replacing it. The result will be a two-part evening spectacle that combines tradition with innovation, and positions Land’s End at the forefront of large-scale visitor experiences in the South West.

The drone-enhanced Magic in the Skies events will launch in summer 2026, with further details to be announced later this year.

John O’Groats to celebrate 100 years of Monte Carlo Rally

Press Release:

Members of the Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club gathered at John O’ Groats as a taster for the Monte Carlo Classique/Historique Rally which will be starting from the iconic signpost on January 29th 2026.

The rally will mark the centenary of the John O’ Groats start when a group of intrepid adventurers left the windswept northern tip of mainland Scotland to drive 1500 miles to Monte Carlo in the south of France to establish what has become one of the world’s iconic motorsport events.

A century on next January, their modern counterparts will replicate their achievement in a range of cars, some of which date back to the early years.

The event has been run several times in recent years with a variety of Scottish starts including Paisley, Glasgow and Clydebank but for this year’s major milestone in the history of the event there’s a welcome return to the traditional John O’Groats start.

And the local club is so delighted, they’ve been celebrating with a minor rally of their own with some of their collection including two MK1 Ford Cortinas, both of which have done the Monte in the past, a Ford Anglia rally car, a 1972 Mini, Chevrolet Firenza, Hillman Avenger, 1972 MGB GT, a 1969 Triumph 1300, Dolomite, Stag and 2000,  Land Rover Discovery Camel Trophy Tribute and MG TD.

The centenary rally begins on the morning of January 29th 2026 and the cars can be seen travelling south that day with stops at Inverness, Stirling and Edinburgh before heading through the Scottish Borders and York the following day to Hull for the overnight ferry to Rotterdam.
