According to Visit Scotland, the North Coast 500 (or NC500 for short) is the road trip of a lifetime that starts in the northern city of Inverness, weaves along the west coast of Scotland to Applecross and then northwards towards the towns of Torridon and Ullapool. From there, the route ventures to some of the most northerly coastal points in Scotland, passing by Caithness and John o' Groats before heading south again through Dingwall and finally back to Inverness. The total distance covered is 516 miles and 5-7 days is the recommended duration.
Shaun is a popular Scottish vlogger from Edinburgh who recently undertook the NC500 challenge and vlogged his entire journey, including his overnight stay at John O’Groats (top tip: fast forward to 9 minutes and 30 seconds into the YouTube clip for the John O’Groats highlights).
