Fireman Sam™ joins celebrations!

17th August 2017

It was all hands to the pumps last week as Fireman Sam™ joined in the celebrations to mark 50 years of Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service’s Training & Development Academy.

The Fire & Rescue Service held a special open day at its Academy on Storrington Avenue, Croxteth, and people from across Merseyside came along to join the party.

Along with Fireman Sam’s visit, highlights included live action demonstrations from firefighters performing a simulated road traffic collision rescue. Merseyside Police horses were also in attendance, while brave members of the public tested their nerve on a huge climbing wall.

Zachary Roberts-Kendall, commercial manager at Mattel Play! Liverpool, said:

“It was great that Fireman Sam™ could be part of this event, meet his fans and local firefighters, and help celebrate the vital work that Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service does.”

Simon Ryan, non-executive director at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, said of the event:

“For us, it’s a chance to meet our communities, share insights into our work and celebrate our proud history so far.”

You can visit Fireman Sam™ at Mattel Play! Liverpool, within the Albert Dock, seven days a week.
